Sounds like the rib crack may have gotten some moisture or rot going...some
of those ribs get so deep you can't see. Once that outer shell cracks
they become vulnerable............So when you can't see you smell....if you
smell pumpkin treat it ......sound like you did that......sometimes they
just get.............get rot......so after reading your post i got
paranoid....went out and gave the pumpkins the once over.....kept picking
up on a slight smell......sure enough a gopher was knawing at it.....dug
down and felt moisture......from the pumpkin......geez now i have to dig
under and access the damage......................wish I was psychic i could
see these things coming.................to be a grower it takes all your
senses.......LOL..............so I gas bombed the hole now i am waiting
...As you know I had put the pumpkin on mesh but as I adjusted the pumpkin
a corner was unprotected ,,,and of course murphy's law.....sets
in........pumpkin growing is sure the lessen in"
perseverance"...................sounds like fat boy was fat and
thick..........so get an uow....unofficial weight .....so the Heilman
uow-700....has a name and weight.......its the least you can do for the
beast........bathroom scales are a last resort as it takes alot of work
unless you have a son.....who is really interested...............
