kiwi cuttings

After digging & moving my hardy kiwis( A.
kolomitka) last spring, some vines have grown back from the roots. One piece has
been a very pretty green & yellow variegated pattern all summer. I
would like to propagate it but don't know the best technique.
1) take cuttings now.
2) wait until spring
3) cut back the non-variegated shoots and see what
happens next spring.
I am in Quebec, Zone 4
