germination temperatures, novice question.

How much variation from the ideal temperature is acceptable ? I'm using an
electric propogator which pushes daytime temperatures up to ninety
fahrenheit, is this far too high to work for seeds which should be
germinated at 70F, should I shut it off during the day ?
