Hi Deb,
This is Elaine from England.
I am also very fond of ferns. I have several large ones that I keep in
pots. I have plans to make a fern bed in a very shady corner of my
garden.
All I know about them is that they need a humus-rich moist soil and can
be divided in Autumn (Fall) or Winter. We've divided them in the Spring
also and have had no problems.
Your oldest son is a landscape painter, that's wonderful -it's one of my
ambitions. I have just finished a short course in portrait painting - it
was great fun.
Elaine.
