Bobbi - I am not the right one to answer you about boxwood in zone 6, but
we have had in out garden long before my time started, for at least 50-60
years with no problem, but he I am supposed to live in zone 8 up here in
Norway! :) (mild coastline you know becacuse of Gulf stream) - we have
several placea, but all staning on notern side of houses together with
Rhododendrons and Hedera helix (ivy). The boxwood are getting big so we
have to prune them every year - maybe that is a helping reason I never have
seen any winter damage? the point was: it is god to prune them, and if you
get winterdamage you may just take it away with pruning?
