Thanks for the info on this plant.  It should be hardy where I have it
planted, next to my foundation, in a sort of alcove.  I did not, however,
realize it grew so tall.  Does this mean it has many or particularly strong
roots?  I realize that some trees, like dogwoods, can be planted close by
the house without a problem...then there are others, whose trunks rupture
through your siding and roots push the blocks out of the basement wall.  I
hope Musa basjoo is not one of those.
