Have my doubts, Joe - even if you are that much farther south than I
- that it would bloom well for you with only high noon sun. Would
depend on how much light it was getting the rest of the day, I think.
Mine petered out as the border where it lived got shadier and shadier
over the years. I do have B. alternifolia in less than full sun -
more like high open shade, as it is backed by forest on the east and
fronted by the house on the west (about 45 feet away) but relatively
open above except for a black locust, which casts very light shade.
Blooms, but not a lot and the plant is not exactly thrilled with its
station in life. It, however, is said to resent being moved, so it
had better get over it.
OTOH, B. davidii, I think, is more amenable to being moved so if it
did not thrive where you're thinking of putting it, you could try
shifting it to a sunnier location.
Seems to me, tho' that you might want to consider something that
liked shade a bit more...
