Donna, Cattails WILL grow in containers. I remember that Ezra Haggard,
PERENNIALS FOR THE LOWER MIDWEST, writes about cattails. I'll have to look
it up to get the details, but he says they work well planted in plastic
horse watering containers (Ezra is from Lexington, and horses are big down
there). If you like, I'll look it up and see what he says specifically, or
do you have access to the book? I guess you are not Lower Midwest but it
should still work.
