I too am new to the list.  I live in rural western Michigan.  Our climate
is moderated by our proximity to Lake Michigan.  We live on a small lake
lot (not Lake Michigan) and have lots of shade.  I have a perennial garden
on the Lake side of our house in the shade and am anxious to learn about
plants that would flourish there.
