Hello Anelle,
Sounds as though you are doing a just fine job with your garden.
Everyone learns by experience over the years in their own garden. Every
garden is different, same with every gardener. There is no one answer to
much of anything in gardening. There may be quite a few sciences related to
gardening, but gardening itself is an art... not a science.
Just continue sketching and painting with the canvas you have. Most
important thing is that it be "your" painting.
