Re: Anyone collect heucheras?/ hummers

Hello Gail,
I have two of the native species of Alumn Root as well as the hybrids.... we
always try to place some near the patio where we occasionally find time to sit in
the evenings...... hummingbirds. They love those tiny little bells of this family
of plants. They may be "insignificant" to many of us, but they sure are not to the
little flying jewels.
Incidentally, Heucheras are being bred for larger and more showy flowers.
There are several out there now that have both foliage and flowers. The Raspberry
Regal I mentioned earlier is one example. Bright green silver mottled foliage and
blooms in pink, cream and raspberry.
