Hi Kathy,
Interesting about the bulb. Where are you in zone 5? I'm on the line of 4
and 5. I put out my potted bulbs in spring; they grow new leaves and then
bloom successfully the following winter. A couple of years ago I planted one
in a sheltered spot of a perennial border and left it there over winter to
see if it would come back. It didn't.
