This is not really a seed catalog, most of the offerings are live plants.
The Marjatta rhododendrons from Finland are on page 3. There are four
offerings in this catalog, white, pink, red and a white with violet flecks.
The breeder is Dr.Peter Tigerstedt, University of Helsinki. They have been
tested at the U of MN Landscape Arboretum.
These rhodies offer some diversity in the zone 4 choices. They are hardy to
38 degrees below zero. The flowers are very large and bloom in June.
The PJM which is truly my best rhododendron, at this time, has smaller
flowers and blooms very early in a limited color range.
The Finnish hybrids seem to be known in Canada, arriving here in catalogs
just recently. One plant is 14.95, all four are 44.95.
