BOBBI,
I did a little digging around mine and discovered that there were critter
holes, too. I stomped and staked and it seems much better, even before I
staked it. The stake is a long metal one so it is unobtrusive and I can live
with it.
You probably get a lot more snow than we do in Central Ill. I guess maybe I
should put a burlap tent around it. I did this for years to prevent windburn
when it was smaller. This would prevent heavy snow damage, or from splitting.
By the way, in our zone 5 it is not evergreen and drops its leaves. Does
yours?
Thanks for the info.
