Re: Problem with slugs


Two ideas.

Someone recently wrote in on the Phoenix Hosta Robin and recommended the
beautiful seed pods from the Sweet Gum tree as a slug deterrent. They said
that if you strew these among your hostas, the slugs will go away--and who
would blame them. Just goes to prove there is a use for everything.

I have known people (with an agricultural bent) who kept pet ducks in the
garden. Ducks like to eat slugs. Just a thought.

I agree with you about using poisons. I got some Deadline and then
couldn't put it down--too dangerous. It's not just your own pets--what
about the neighbors' animals? And the birds, too.
