Caroline:
You bring up an interesting point. I have increased my Sibs by dividing
the plants. I have never tried to grow new Sibs from seeds.
Our sib season is just about drawing to an end here in Northern Westchester
County.... New York State.... or just west of Danbury, Connecticut... to
put it another way. (Zone 6) For the most part, the flowers have now
died... and I have lots of seed pods developing on the plants.
Should I try growing them from seeds? How long would it take to get a
decent, mature size plant? And what are the chances of success?
How does growing them from seed compare to simply dividing them...and giving
the cuttings good, new growing conditions...... which I have done in the
past with good results?
Would love to hear from you and others on the pros and cons of dividing vs.
seed sowing.
Thanks.

I've found I.sanguinica seems to germinate better(SIGNA seed) with 3-4weeks
damp cold-moist peat moist in pill bottle in fridge-then plant.

I.sibericas(BArr etc) have purple spathes as does Nelson Blue, Joretta, and
Orville Fay has a lovely rose edge- can't recall others and sib season is
over here in Northwest VA.
