Flight of Butterflies

Hello Group,

I know there was a discussion on this cv weeks ago. There was no conclusion
drawn on the actual or "what one should expect" size of this plant.

Here in zone 4, we are somewhat behind the rest you guys so my FOB is just
opening today. I first saw FOB at the Berkshire Botanic (Massachusetts). It
was about 90 cm. tall and had numerous flowerstalks. Went right down on the
buy list.

Mine was purchased at Olallie Farms in Vermont. It was a potted divison so
did not look like much when it went into the garden. Five years later the
plant has not increased much and produces two or three stalks. The leaves
are less than 30 cm.
There is nothing left to blame. We have have had what a friend calls
"biblical rains" this spring. The soil is fine, there are no borers.

I think that there must be more than one clone circulating and a "miniature
plant" owner should probably try to buy another from a new source. In fact,
I think I might write first and ask if the source's plants were tall or short.
