All of Isabelle Preston's siberians are exceptional performers and stand
up well to time. Of course, most of her work was done a couple of miles
west of me.
As a purchaser, I order current year (or C-Yr+1) introductions. I have
received various numbers of rhizomes from different gardens. Most tend
to be sizeable clumps. The spring deliveries are smaller than the fall
deliveries by about a third.
I wouldn't object to receiving four single rhizomes, depending on the
price. I would likely have a problem paying 50 USD.
However, I liked the story of Dana Borglum sending 'Lake Keuka' to
Oregon for the AIS convention. He read the rules quite literally - he
send three single rhizomes, believing that the committee did not
distinguish between TBs and siberians. They performed magnificently,
and the ultimate result of that decision will occur on May 17th, 2003.
