I have always assumed that a good division is one that I myself
would like to receive. This means a rhizome or bulb that is
medium-large to large for the species and shows its vigor with
lots of fat roots.
When Iris are growing well, there's an abundance of possible
divisions or offsets and no excuse for being miserly.
I have ordered Iris from another source only twice in my life.
Both times, I was happy with what was sent.
