RE: definition of minumum acceptable commercial division

It's definitely an art, not a science. We try to send divisions that are as
good as or better than any we have received. We don't count the rhizomes but
we have our dividers (Macey and I dig everything) break the clumps into
large segments and send to the shipping preparation area. The folks who help
us have been doing so for over 5 years now and know what we want to send out
and if the division is too large they reduce it...if it's to small they will
have more divisions dug and send the small divisions back to be replanted.
Macey arbitrates any questions.

We try not to send disconnected rhizomes as a single plant, although some
Siberians just don't hold together. We had a lot of trouble with STRAWBERRY
FAIR this year. We might bunch singles for the lower priced plants but not
for the more expensive. Generally, if it doesn't look like a good, big
healthy plant we refund the purchase price.

I am going to divide my first Siberian clump shortly and just realized
that I don't know what is the minimum acceptable commercial division. In
particular I would like the commercial garden owners to respond but even the
buyers can comment. These divisions are going to be for potting but I still
want at least the minimum acceptable division in the pot. I have purchased
several hundred divisions but was so concerned with either planting or
potting them that I did not take time to analyze the divisions.

Second part of the question. If the acceptable minimum is 3 rhizomes, is
it acceptable to use three single rhizomes as the three?
