I get antsy too about this time of year. Though the weather is tempting,
I'm learning not to jump the gun and feed all those newly hatched and hungry
buglings!
So ... I'm going back to doing my own starts. I've dusted off my copy of
"The New Seed Starters Handbook" by Nancy Bubel and she says 'onions -- 12
to 14 weeks before the safe planting - out date (which is 4 to 6 weeks
before the last frost)'
Hope this helps.
