Hi Ann,

I ripen most of my toms indoors. Place your green toms in a cardboard 
box with a couple of ripe ones and put them in a dark, cool place for 
a week or so. They will ripen nicely, I promise!!!
Your other problem, the brown patches on your toms, I will get back 
to you tomorrow.
