Re: Shrub suggestion


Well, Karen, my 'Rose Glow' is more in the 3' foot range and it took
a few years to get there.  Gave it a haircut this spring.  Normally
all I've ever done is nip a few tips that got on my nerves because
they were poking out of bounds.  Have had mine for over 10 years, I
think.  

Do not think this shrub is going to grow out of bounds too quickly,
no matter what cultural care it gets.  I'm rather fond of the purple
leafed barberries - have several of differing heights - even tho'
their color is not as intense in my shade as it would be in full sun.
 My only complaint about them is that they are terrible winter leaf
catchers...blowing leaves get caught up on their spines and are a
pain to retrieve.  Other than that, they are very undemanding and I
really enjoy their strange little flowers.
