Karen, I understand your frustration with differing information. That's why
it's best to ask people if they've grown or seen growing certain plants.
Merely getting name suggestions won't help you there. My advice is to pick
out a few likely candidates and then ask people if they've every grown or
seen mature plants growing of a certain variety. Preferably these people
live in a similar zone to you. A shrub that grows 6' in Alabama might only
grow 3' in Michigan. Another good source of information is your own
town/area. Drive around and see what's growing and what you like. I've
stopped and asked homeowners what a certain plant is and what they're
experience is with it. I've never had anyone tell me to take a hike, they've
always been nice, even if they can't help me. Good luck, Cindy
