Re: Favorite groundcovers?
I use a lot of groundcovers to cover large and sometimes vey steep banks.
Bearberry is my favorite right now, it tolerates a lot of sand and salt and
looks great from the time the new growth starts until it is covered by snow,
rarely any winterburn, a great plant, another favorite is Yellowroot,
Xanthorhiza simplicissima, does well in shade, wet or dry, and full sun with
a northern exposure. My favorite juniper gc. is J. h. douglasii, the
Waukegan Juniper.Steel blue in the summer and purple in the winter, it stays
low and neat and is a nice change from the Blue Rug and Bar Harbor
varieties of which I have way too many. Steve
