not the four-legged beast of burden types, but the two-legged belligerent
naaaaay-sayer types, that is.
so the other day we were having an inspired meeting discussing the
construction of a new garden in a mega-park in mid-town Atlanta when all of
the sudden and without warning the person whom is the chief person of all
Parks persons here-abouts mentioned that it would be 'political suicide' to
allow a community garden in such a heavily used public space. of course we
cited two other community gardens in public parks nearby, but unfortunately
in a different county, which apparently don't count.
i did a web search and found some good stuff on the city farmer site, but i
have been charged with finding more information. so, i ask you, please
respond to me if your city allows such private use of public land as
community gardens in city parks. i have the feeling this has been discussed
somewhat recently, but i couldn't figure out how to browse the list-serve
archives. i'll just tally up the responses and post one message for
everyone's benefit.
it would also be interesting to hear from cities that disallow community
gardens in parks, if there is such a place other than this one. thanks for
your time and assistance!
