Hello Roger,
Well, if you are unhappy/uneasy about the deal before it
gets off the mark, I would pass. I usually trust my bellybutton on deals like
this. I know the "common knowledge" is never to turn down a deal .... they may
not come back. But, it has been my experience that "aint so". I have turned down
some pretty decent offers and the editor has returned with other offers. You
probably are not going to starve to death if a job of that magnitude is dropped.
Some people who are "in charge" like to see others dance
through hoops. Makes them feel better for a bit. I believe it is time for some
honesty in the negotiations.
