Re: Asian beetle control

.Attached is what I hope is a larger photo of the beetle. Let me know. The
beetle is small - less than 3/8 inch long. Since the beetle feeds at night
there are none in the damage photo.

The shape of the head and antennae are different from the copper viburnum
leaf beetle and I have not seen any larvae. The body of "My" beetle appears
to be more round so I am not leaning in that direction for ID.

This thing is a real scurge. It killed bishop's weed in 2 seasons. Stripped
coreopsis and calibrichoa. Now working on the asters. Feed from the ground
up, sometimes leaving the tops, so there will probably be some flowering.
I found this one dead in my study on the second floor of my house, others
in my kitchen (one in a bowl I had left on the counter and one in the sink)
and one in the bird bath. Seems it can crawl anywhere. Imagine my surprise
when 2 came crawling out of pots of pelargonium I was overwintering in my
hot dry apt in Feb. No damage to the pelargonium.
