Re: GWA Award Musings (From Graham Rice)
I've always wondered why the GWA awards ignore speaking completely. One thing I want to work toward is not only recognition for excellence in speaking, but for more educational programs that teach people better presentation skills. For too long I think that speaking has just been viewed as a way to promote books, not as a professional form of garden communication. When I found out that GWA offered financial support for writers and photographers workshops, but not speakers, I immediately wrote a proposal for the board's consideration.
And I'd say that many people should submit proposals for revamping the awards program as well.
