Speaking Award
I'm fascinated by the concept, since we are categorizing ourselves as garden
communicators and speaking certainly seems to fit the category.
I realise we do have television and radio sections; however, there sure a
lot of challenges to consider.
Would there be categories described by audience (to master gardeners,
general audience at a garden show, seminar/lecture at a college, children's
talk, trade show presentation), time ( 20 minutes, 40 minutes, 1
hour),purpose (demonstration, inform/teach, entertain), and so on?
How would an entry be submitted?
If by video or other recording, what would be the effect of quality?
It would seem that a live presentation makes sense so what importance is
given to the audience's reception of the entry? For example, the speaker may
cover off all scoring checkpoints admirably but the actual talk wasn't
appropriate to the venue, to the audience, or some other factor.
Since Region VII seems global, would all entries have to be in English?
sincerely,
Dan
