The Philadelphia Flower Show asks for participation from the region's
horticulturists and garden writers. I get no fee for my yearly talk or talks
at the show. But I receive a PRICELESS parking sticker, if I ask for one and
explain how I am carrying in bags of cement mix, etc for the Mini-Trough
Workshop. Also, the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society  (PHS) Lecture Series
Coordinator, Marilyn Reynolds, collects data from the speakers in advance
and puts in a goodly order of the speakers' books, through the show
bookseller, Barnes and Noble. The lecture series schedule itself is great
publicity for authors, for it is widely circulated.

Proceeds from the flower show go to nonprofit PHS and are used for civic
projects such as Philadelphia Green, a hugely successful community gardening
project.
