Re: Portland, Oregon gardens

 Try to get to Cistus Nursery on Sauvie Island while you're in Portland. A very cool little place with weird plants, and if I remember correctly it's only 10 miles or so north of the city.

Hi Catriona,
Several of the Portland area wholesale growers hosted GWA members at their 
facilities, which also have lovely gardens. Terra Nova was interesting. Co-owner 
Dan Heims, a GWA member and breeder, has introduced many new plants to the 
market. Iseli Nursery, known for its' specimen conifers, has fabulous gardens. 
Monrovia also has a huge operation nearby, with inspiring grounds and gardens.
 
I don't believe any of these is regularly open to the public, but they're all 
GWA allied trades members who probably would welcome a fellow GWA member, if you 
call ahead. They're all listed in your GWA directory under Allied Trade Members.
