Hi Tom,
Replying off-list (please send a summary of what you hear!), but there
is the 2000 year-old seed from a date palm that was germinated in 2008:

Fascinating that the tree was thought to be extinct 1500 years ago.
The article mentions that 1300 year-old Chinese lotus seed has been
germinated as well.
