RE: Correct plant names

Hi.

I've been following this thread with great interest because I am a
writer who ALWAYS uses scientific names for plants, an editor who ALWAYS
uses (in parens and following whatever common name seems most
appropriate) scientific names for plants the first time they are
mentioned in a book, and an Americanizer for several British publishing
companies who not only checks scientific names but also adds them on
occasion. The Index is the standard for most American publishing houses,
but thanks to this discussion as well as some of the resources mentioned
here, I plan to talk to some of the companies for which I work about
using more updated names.

So as far as I am concerned, this has been a GREAT discussion.

Thanks,

Miranda Smith
