I agree with Sandie and Peter -- better to cut the piece myself than leave to an editor. As an editor, I know I prefer the writer cut the piece.
I am not an Editor, but I am an editor. I have mentored several wannabe writers. It is a rare neophyte piece that I cannot cut by a third, sometimes a half, and make it better. Lost a lot of friends that way.
