I've been a Mac person since I bought my first computer in 1988 and am
on my 3rd laptop. I have a 15" Titanium G4 and love it. The screen
resolution is good enough for photoshop work, it's light weight, and
has plenty of memory and speed. I've worked for other people on PC's
but would choose a Mac every time. My husband has an ibook, which is
also a swell machine and somewhat less expensive. But if you're going
to do a lot of photoshop work, you might want the higher resolution of
the Titanium.
Until recently I used a Canoscan for scanning my slides, but I'm now in
the market for a new scanner (and about to put the Canoscan on ebay!).
The Canoscan works perfectly well, but the latest Mac OS isn't
compatible with scsi card peripherals so... Therefore, I'd also be
interested in hearing if people have scanner recommendations. I don't
need the best and most expensive but want something good enough to use
professionally.
