Re: Incorporating
I have a new slide scanner bought Labor Day weekend -- not a bad machine --
does four at a time, slides and film only. It's from Konica Minolta, the
DiMage Scan Dual IV, using a USB port. It could be faster but it does a good
job. It focuses on each slide individually. It is robotic and makes noise as
it pushes the tray in and out. I had to buy it in a hurry after my old HP
scanner from 1997 broke down. I set it up and started using it immediately,
without help-- a very good sign!
I almost didn't buy it because the Micro Center salesman would not take it
out of the box and show it to me. But it was the only usable option I could
find, off the shelf.
I scanned a slide at the maximum resolution this machine provides and it
came out as a 33,578 KB tif file. Mostly I am scanning the slides to come
out at about 14,000 KB each, tif files.
A lot of low-end scanners are for home use and do not give high res results.
The low end ones started at about $150, where I looked, but this one was
about $450.
What else is out there?
