Yes, but they were using garden tools which they had already stolen from
me the week before!
I only caught them because I had come home early to do some painting.
They told me that "The owner wants them moved." So I called the police,
who were laughing as they swooped in.
The "Garden Service" truck was stolen, too, but not from me.
The authorities let me keep the roses, after many pictures were taken,
but all my tools (some of them belonged to my grandfather) are still in
lock-up as evidence.
The story goes downhill from there: the group were illegals, living in a
group house in Silver Spring. The INS has shipped everybody off to Latin
America. Since my city has declared itself a place of refuge, where
immigration laws are not enforceable, they could still try to prosecute
me for aiding in having them deported. Sigh. And then there was the
immigrant support group that thought I'd like to make amends by making a
donation to them.
At least they haven't gone through with the threat to picket ...
