Wow, thank you all for all your replies! You really are a great bunch!! Scott, this
Wisconsin site is wonderful, for all sorts of things! Every state should have a site like
this one.

I took some time to check out some of the Square Foot Gardening websites, and I can see
that I should have started planning this in January! I'm going to use the garden that I
already have this year, and next winter I can make the boxes and work on the raised
garden next year. Maybe I could still get my herb garden raised this year.

My garden is 12'x20', so I can get many 4' square gardens in it, but then I have no
walkways. Can I make my sections 3'x3'?

I am going to buy my official  Square Foot Gardening book today! I think that will answer
many of my questions.

This fall we will be landscaping our front yard, so I will be able to take move of the
soil from my current garden there, instead of buying topsoil. That will "lower" the
current garden, and then I can add my boxes next spring!

My 3.5 yr old son is very excited about the garden!  We will do our best this year and
next year do it "right".
