I once had problems with neighborhood cats, too.  I've now got a woodchipper
I keep behind my shed expressly for this purpose.  Cats ultimately make
great mulch, if you don't mind picking the occasional severed paw out of
your beds.  Plus, there's something so delightful about the sound of steel
against bone as the blade in a good woodchipper hits another one of their
little skulls, making their head explode like a ripe melon.

Needless to say, I haven't had kitty problems in years.
