Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hi Fran,
GREAT SITE! I have to sleep on it before I totally understand the "wick"
garden...perhaps doing would equal learning, for me that is the best way
at understanding a new concept.
The tire garden is a a true gem. Can you imagine a row of them with
lettuce or marigolds, I think they would be close in surface area
to 2 1/2 square feet, (without doing the math) so at 6" spacing you
could grow ten lettuces, or certainly a zucchini by itself, or a tomato
with a companion planting of a marigold and a basil, there are so many
possibilities. There probably are as many possible combinations as there
are tires available.
This would be great for either the inner city or rural impoverished
gardener. Both locals seem to have plenty of old tires. In hot climates
you could paint the tires white to reflect heat, in cool climates just
leave them black.
My brain is spinning in circles, like the wheels of a tire going round
and round........
Trudi
