Ted, 

You don't mention where you live, but I think WOW's are most notably
helpful to those of us who have very short growing seasons.  They help us
to extend our seasons long enough for our tomatoes to ripen...  (Our frost
free period here in Northwest Lower Michigan is Memorial Day to Labor Day)

(who has harvested more green tomatoes to save from the frost than she
cares to admit to, and hopes that some of the things she is learning on
this forum will improve the averages!!)
