El and all,

It was I. cristata that survived here a few
years in zone 3, not I. tectorum.

In the photo Rodney sent the flower looked
similar to an I. cristata I used to grow and I
confused them. Sorry.

I don't think the I. cristata I got as a plant
bloomed until the third year here, and didn't
increase to two plants until the fourth or fifth
year. Then it died out in the next year or two.
It was in a place where snow accumulated and
stayed all winter.
