Betty, It seems to me that the Verbena Bud Moth has been here since I have been raising Louisiana irises. Perhaps it is because of the number of seed pods. They are much more prone to bee pods than bearded irises here. I usually have at least a pickup truck load of stalks to cut and unless the weather during bloom was just horrible (rain and excessive moisture) the stalks of most varieties will have pods on most of the sockets and multiple pods on most. Obviously not every pod, covered or bare, will have damage but it is a common sight to see multiple larva husk or shells sticking out of pod. The "iris bud fly" is a new addition here but I suspect it will only get worse. I will look into the predator insects for next year.
