HYB:Personal hangups

I didn't breed with YB!  I didn't even buy YB!  Why?   Because there are so 
many blues and the R & I says the beards are  YELLOW!  I don't like yellow 
beards on blue! I held out even though a  good friend kept insisting that I needed 
to buy it and use it!  I wasn't  even interested in the children of YB.  
 
Then I won a potted rhizome of YB (at iris bingo or as a door  prize) during 
a fall meeting.  This spring it bloomed!  Surprise,  surprise!  The beards 
don't really look yellow!  So I crossed STAR  GATE onto it and now have the seed 
(38) in a pot under a 3 inch mulch of straw!  I don't know whether to laugh or 
cry!  
 
Also didn't buy RIPPLING RIVER because it looked purple in all the  pictures 
I saw!  
 
What am I trying to say?  Maybe personal hangups have no place in the  iris 
beds?
