Re: AIS: Judge's Training

Walter asked: <why split judges into garden and showbench categories>

Hmm... well, you might talk me into becoming a garden judge, but there
is no way on earth I'd ever even think about becoming a show bench
judge. Just me. On the other hand, dragging me away from my own bloom
season for training would be a major challenge. Any others out there
who'd become garden judges but aren't interested in show bench judging?

Another thought - if we had judges who were only garden judges, maybe
we'd also get garden awards for cultivars. That would be nice, tho most
of the garden judges would most likely be from areas where irises grow
best...so we'd still wind up with EDITH WOLFORDs and BEVERLY SILLs
winning top garden awards.

Interesting concept tho...
