CULT: Bloom color variations

Has anyone ever noticed color variations in the same iris cultivar? I am
sure about everyone has and I was wondering....(this is turning in to a
genetics questions <g>)....in later years is it possible that the color
variations could become so distinct that it would be hard to distinguish
which cultivar is which? This question came to my mind when looking at
BROWN LASSO. The HIPS website has a picture of a lovely specimen and a
local grower has a picture in his catalog of something I would prefer to
throw in the dump. I would like to order some but if I get something like
this local guy has I sure don't want it!
