When I worked in a plants shop we would drill pots all the time. Weather
unglazed or glazed and never had a problem. We used a high speed carbine
type drill that looked like a arrow head. They can be had in various
diameters, I believe we had a 3/8 or 1/2 in. size. We would then drill an
appreciate number of holes for the size of the pot. On glazed pots you
press lightly until it drills through the glazed and then it was smooth
sailing. Unglazed and stoneware pots were a breeze, start slowly.
