Hi Nan,
Michael has given you the best advice, as above. The ceramic/concrete
drills we can get here look like an ordinary "twist drill" bit but have
carbide tips welded onto the working faces. These work well too.
One extra point I would add is - have the place where the drill bit is
going to come out on the "other side" of the pot supported on a piece of
wood. This way you prevent - or at least minimise - flaking around the
exit hole when the drill breaks through.
Don't press hard on the drill, and if it has speed control, use a slow
speed.
