Re: Color of Spring Bloom

We have a pink spring. Many of the native plants are pink (flowering
currant, bleeding heart) and the streets are lined with flowering
pink cherries and plums which are planted on many boulevards ( I have
a list of the street trees of Victoria - they include magnolias, but
they're not out yet). Plus many of the early rhodos seem to be pink,
and many of the camellias as well.

Oh, I just glanced out the window in a different direction and yes,
we do have yellow too, forsythia and daffodils. And out a different
window, bright red rhodos - barbatum and strigillosum hybrids.

But if you were flying over in a low flying airplane, I'm sure the
ground would look pink. Not even much yellow, as the acres of
daffodils are picked as unopened buds and flown to eastern Canada.
Definitely not the blue, yellow and orange of California.
